From Your Pastor's Heart - July 16, 2017

Good Morning Family,

VBS: EXODUS 2017: The Big Exit is in the rearview mirror and what a great time it was!  This past Wednesday night, we saw a group of 34 students go to see the Sight and Sound production of Moses along with 15 adults.  The kids behaved extraordinarily well at the theatre and a great time was had.  What a wonderful musical rendition of God’s deliverance and provision for His people!

During the day on Thursday, we took the students to the Creation Museum of the Ozarks north of Branson.  They divided us up into three groups and spent some good time with our kids explaining the sovereignty of God in creation.  It was a great event.  We did recreate for a bit with the kids as well as we took them mini-golfing at Wildwood Indoor Mini-golf.  They were very generous in giving our students a free round of golf!

Thursday, we also had a very full day with several sessions of teaching led by my nephew Joel Carpenter who serves in Student Ministries at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, Missouri.  God has gifted him with an ability to relate to kids and share the truth of God’s Word in an effective fashion.  During our sessions, several students came to our leaders asking for prayer for some very stiff issues they are facing at home and at school and one young man, without a doubt, surrendered his life to Christ in brokenness.

I want to thank our Children’s Ministries Director Tracy Hudson for all of her caring and hard work with our kids.  If you have not thanked her recently, please see to it.  Our leaders in the kitchen and our drivers that transported the kids around are so appreciated.  I heard good things from all of those volunteers involved.  I also want to thank those of you who provided food and prayers for the event.  This could not have happened without us all pulling together to make it happen with the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit working through us and also in the lives of young people.

As always, my prayer is that we would all Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.”    II Timothy 2:15.

Humbly Yours,

Bro. Steve
